     Joseph was born in 1625 in Mowsley, Leicestershire, England.2 Joseph married Jane Budde, daughter of Lieutenant Johne Budd and Catheryne Butcher, circa 1647 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.3,4 Joseph & Jane had children: John [ca. 1648-8/04/1707][m. Rachel Hoyt], Joseph [ca. 1650][m. Sophia Claes Jans], Samuel [ca. 165s], David [ca 1654], Benjamin [m. Ann Budd, d/o John & Mary [Horton] Budd], Hannah [m. Thomas Robinson & 2nd Miles Oakley], Abigail [1663][m. Roger Park & Jeremiah [1666]].5,6 About 1664, The family moved from Southold, Long Island to Rye, Westchester County where Jane's father & some of her siblings had gone.7 Joseph's wife, Jane, died circa 1667 in Rye, Westchester County, New York, leaving him a widower. Joseph married 2nd Abigail Vail, daughter of Jeremiah Vail and Catharine (?), in the Town of Southold. Joseph & Abigail had children: Joseph [Mary Hallock], John [m. Sarah Vail], Benjamin & Janet. About 1685, the family resided in Rye, Westchester County, New York but returned later to Southold. Joseph departed this life before 1696 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
