Thomas was born circa 1680 at Yoder, El Paso County, Colorado. Thomas married Sarah Pearsall in 1707 in Westbury, Hempstead Town, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He took a certificate from Westbury to Concord when he removed there. Thomas departed this life in 1732 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. There is a probated will on record there. After his death, his wife married George James of Chester County, Pennsylvania.

- [S451] Townsend Society Newslwtter: A Correction to the Townsend Memorial [Winter 1999-2000]: Thomas, b. ca. 1680, d. 1732 in Chester Co., PA. md in 1707 at Westbury, Sarah Pearsall, dau of Nathaniel Pearsall and Martha (Seaman). Thomas did not die young as suggested in the TM. On 30 May, 1685 he received a gift of land from his uncle Thomas Townsend of Oyster Bay (OBTR 1:288). Thomas took a certificate from Westbury to Concord Meeting, Chester Co., PA where he died in 1732. There is a probated will on file for Thomas in Chester Co., PA. Had issue. His widow md. (2) George James of Chester Co., PA.
