     John was born on Tuesday, 12 May 1643 in Gravesend, New Netrherlands. He became a freeman on 12 May 1664.2 John married Mary Parcell, daughter of Nicholas Parcell and Sarah (?), on 9 May 1664 in the Town of Flushing, Queens County, Long Island, New York. [license]3,2,4 There is no indication that John had any religious affiliation. However, his chilren, John, Joseph and Hannah were recorded as Quakers while William, Mary, Elizabeth and Sarah were communicants of the Church of England.5 John made his will on 5 January 1697.

In it he wrote - in which he leaves "housing, lands, and meadows, goods and chattels" to his wife and children who he mentions by name: William, John, Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sarah, restricting his wife's share to £100 in case she shall be married again.

The will was executed again on 21 Jul 1709.2 1698, John and Mary and his wife, [ROF:Flushing Town] were listed on the Flushing Town Census. Enumerated in this household were John Thorne Sr., Mary his wife, Hannah, Sarah, William & negro Alez. John departed this life in the Town of Flushing. He was buried at Bayside, Queens County, Long Island, New York, in the Thome Family Buring Ground. His will was probated on 21 June 1709.
