Susan was born on Wednesday, 4 October 1786 in Rockingham County, Virginia. Susan married Abraham Beery on 6 November 1809 in Bremen, Rush Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm given to them by Susan's father. They remained on this farm for the remainder of their lives. Abe & Susan had children: Joshua [11/06/1810], Daniel [1/29/1812], Elizabeth [8/21/1813], Jonas [4/21/1815], Jacob [10/16/1816], Abraham B. [7/16/1818], Mary [9/20/1820], George [4/17/1822-died young], John K. [2/06/1824] & Susan [3/25/1829]. Susan departed this life on Friday, 27 December 1839 in Bremen, Rush Creek Township at age 53 years, 2 months and 23 days. She was buried there in the burial ground on the family farm.

Abraham Beery born in Botetourt Co., Va., June' 14, 1787; died near Bremen, Ohio, March 24, 1876. They were married near Bremen, Ohio, Nov. 6, 1809. They were members of the Dunkard church.
Abraham Beery was a son of Jacob Beery (who married Miss Dillmat)„ of whom tradition says that he was a brother to Nicholas No. 2, the father of the sixteen children in the fore part of this history. Hence, as above, Susan and Abraham were first cousins. He was familiarly called "Red Abe" for distinction, from the fact that in his day in Virginia, there was "Big Abe," "Little Abe," "Brush Abe," "Muddy Creek Abe," "Black Abe," and various other Abes. Of "Red Abe's" brothers and sisters, an account may be produced later on, provided the facts ran be ascertained. *Susan, wife of "Red Abe" died at the age of 53 years. A few years later lie married Margaret (name not given), who died in 1848, and later his third wife Elizabeth Grow. Mr. Beery was drafted into service in the war of 1812. He gave each of his ten children eighty acres of Congress land, which cost him $1.25 per acre, besides starting them up with houses, cattle and money.

*At a late date it has been ascertained that the foregoing " Red " Abraham Beery's father, Jacob Beery, was a son of Nicholas Beery No, 1, and a brother to Nicholas No. 2. This Jacob Beery's wife was a Dillard and lived at Roanoke, Va., and had the following children who were so miscellaneously and differently reported to me by different persons, the information has been so indefinite that the above is the best I can gather.---J.
