Christian was born on Wednesday, 1 August 1792 in Rockingham County, Virginia. Christian married Elizabeth Miller on 2 December 1814 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Christian & Elizabeth had children: Mary [3/11/1816-5/31/1850][m. George W. Bright], Rebecca [5/19/1817-], Elizabeth [7/27/1819-], Joseph L. [8/23/1821-4/05/1887 [m. Anna Friesner & 2nd Elizabeth Boerstler], Benjamin [1/14/1824-2/18/1873][m. Susan Blosser & 2nd. Nancy Beery], Anna [12/02/182512/19/1905][m. William Konkel], Mahala [9/23/1827], Sallie [3/06/1829], Lydia [3/12/1832-2/27/1913][m. John Grimm], Leah [10/01/1835][twin] & Rachel [10/01/1835][twin]. They were members of the Brethren in Christ Church. In 1850, they moved from Fairfield County to Celina, Mercer County, Ohio where Christian secured land for his children. The 1820 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Rush Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, the family of Christian Beery [021210:22001].2 20 August 1850, Christian and his wife, Elizabeth, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census living in the home of their daughter at Center Township, Mercer County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Daniel Bongher [23 Ohio], his wife: Mahala [22 Ohio], son: Christian [3/12 Ohio], Christian Bary [59 Virginia], Elizabeth Bary [54 Virginia], Rachel Bary [14 Ohio], Leah Bary [14 Ohio].3 Christian departed this life on Sunday, 6 February 1859 in Center Township at age 66 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was buried there in the Beery Cemetery.

In 1850 he located his children on large farms near Celina, Mercer Co., Ohio, which was then swampy and heavily timbered, where ague, milk sickness and wild beasts abounded.
