     Samuel was born in 1623 in Whitchurch, Shropshire, England. In 1638, Samuel immigrated to the New Haven Colony. "A Court held the 5t day of the 6t moneth 1642." "Samuell Hoskings and Elizabeth, for their filthy dalliance together, wch was confessed by them both, they were both severely whipped." Then at court 7 Sept 1642: "Samuell Hoskins and Elizbeth Cleverley, being desireous to joyne together in the state of marryage, and nott being able to make prooffe of their parents consent, butt seeing they both affirme they have the consent of their parents, and wth all haveing entred into contract, sinfully and wickedly defiled each other wth filthy dalliance and vncleane passages, by wch they have both made themselves vnfitt for any other, and for wch they have both received publique correctiõ, vpon these considerations, granted them liberty to marry.2 Samuel married Elizabeth Cleverly on 7 September 1642 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, at the First Congregational Church.3 He took the "Oath of Fidelity" to the New Haven Colony, 5 Aug 1644. This indicates he has reached the age of 21.4 Samuel departed this life on Friday, 28 December 1663 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut. The inventory of Samuel's estate was taken on Tuesday, 29 January 1663/64. The inventory was taken by Thomas Munson and Thomas Kemberly. They appraised the estate at £30 0s. 8 1/2d. On 2 February 1664, the widow, Elizabeth appeared before the court and stated that her husband had no will, neither by word or writing.5
