Elizabeth Cleverly

     Elizabeth was born. "A Court held the 5t day of the 6t moneth 1642." "Samuell Hoskings and Elizabeth, for their filthy dalliance together, wch was confessed by them both, they were both severely whipped." Then at court 7 Sept 1642: "Samuell Hoskins and Elizbeth Cleverley, being desireous to joyne together in the state of marryage, and nott being able to make prooffe of their parents consent, butt seeing they both affirme they have the consent of their parents, and wth all haveing entred into contract, sinfully and wickedly defiled each other wth filthy dalliance and vncleane passages, by wch they have both made themselves vnfitt for any other, and for wch they have both received publique correctiõ, vpon these considerations, granted them liberty to marry.1 Elizabeth married Samuel Hotchkiss, son of John Hotchkiss and Margaret Nevett, on 7 September 1642 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, at the First Congregational Church.2 Elizabeth's husband, Samuel, died on 28 December 1663 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut, leaving her a widow. Elizabeth departed this life on Sunday, 28 December 1681 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.
