     A contract for the marriage of Gabriel and Genevieve Ayotte was signed on 23 October 1673. This marriage contract was written up by Romain Becquet. It states that Gabriel was born in St-Guingallois, ville de Chateau-du-Loir, Maine, France; that his parents were Pierre Berard, a tailor of women's clothing, and Isabelle Guillermain. Also, that Genevieve's parents were Jean Hayot and Louise Pelletier of Dombourg.¹ Gabriel was born on Sunday, 9 October 1644 in St. Martin de Chateau-du-Loir, Le Mans, Maine, France. Enumerated in this household were Gabriel [38 years], Genevieve [25 years], Louise [7 years] & Gabriel [1 month].⁴ Gabriel departed this life on Sunday, 12 January 1710 in Neuville, Portneuf County, Quebec, Canada, at age 65 years, 3 months and 3 days.⁵
