Celeste-Isabelle Sylvestre dit Champagne

     Celeste-Isabelle was born on Sunday, 5 September 1734 in Sorel, St-Pierre-De Saurel, Quebec, Canada. She was christened there on 6 September 1734 in St-Pierre Church.¹ A contract for the marriage of Celeste-Isabelle & Antoine Bibeau was signed on 5 January 1754. It was noted that Antoine was 32 and his parents were Nicolas Bibault & Marguerite Peltier and that Celeste was 19 and her parents were Niolas Sylvestre & Marie Elisabeth Laporte. The contract was drawn up by the notary Cyr Demonnerque..² Antoine & Celeste-Isabelle had children: Antoine [8/25/1755-4/19/1837][m. 9/10/1781 Marie Theotiste St-Martin], Antoine [8/31/1757-9/04/1757], Marie Josephe [1759-8/04/1797][m. 2/24/1783 Joseph Louis Dumas], Joseph Hippolyte [3/16/1762], Marie-Anne [6/02/1764][m. 6/02/1783 Francoise Dupre dit Pichet], Marie-Celesite [9/06/1766-8/20/1803][m. 6/02/1783 Antoine-Francois Lavallee], Michel [10/02/1771-12/16/1813][m. 1/12/1795 Marie Therese Vandal] & Charles [2/03/1774].³ Celeste-Isabelle's husband, Antoine, died on 10 September 1795 in Sorel leaving her a widow.⁴ Celeste-Isabelle departed this life on Tuesday, 20 May 1806 in Sorel at age 71 years, 8 months and 15 days.⁵ She was buried there in the churchyard of St-Pierre on Thursday, 22 May 1806.⁶
