     William was born in Canterbury, County Kent, England. He was christened there on 12 September 1602 in St. George's.1 Like his father and his brother, William attended the University of Cambridge, earning a B.A. degree in 1623, and his Masters degree in 1626. He took the position of Victor at Harlington, Bedfordshire in 1627 and stayed there thru the year 1638.2 William married Mary Crawley on 17 May 1627 in Harlington, Bedfordshire, England.
