     Joseph was born in Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut. On 27 July 1712, he was christened in Durham, Middlesex County, Connecticut. By Reverand Nathaniel Chauncey. Joseph married Sarah (?) in 1732. Joseph & Sarah had children: Joseph [1/01/1733-10/01/1795][m. 4/02/1771 Zerviah (Webster) Cobb], Sarah [12/05/1736], Nathaniel [2/05/1739][m. ca. 1763 Hannah [Pritchard] Strickland], Titus [2/11/1742/43] & Anne [m. 5/16/1776 Daniel Dean].2,3 He was a tailor. As an old man during the Revolutionary War, he contributed clothing to the army, thus a partriot. Joseph's wife, Sarah, died on 10 July 1780 in Wolcott, New Haven County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower. Joseph married Katherine Seward after 10 July 1780. Joseph's first wife died on this date. Joseph's wife, Katherine, died on 11 November 1791 in Wolcott, New Haven County, Connecticut, leaving him a widower. Joseph departed this life on Wednesday, 11 November 1801 in Wolcott. He was buried there in Woodtick Cemetery.4
