Richard Slany1

M, b. circa 1550, d. before 9 April 1599
     Richard was born circa 1550 in Bartlow, Cambridgeshire, England. He was rector of the Parish Church of Bartlow by 1574. Richard married Margaret Adams on 2 May 1580 in Bartlow at Parish Church of Bartlow.2 Richard made his will in 1599 at Bartlow, Cambridgeshire, England.

I Richard Slanye clerk and parson of Bartloe in the countie of Cambridge being sick of bodie . . . by body to buried in the Chancell of the parishe church of Bartloe . . . my estate divided into five equal parts by the consent o Richard Willowes, William Willowes, John Pettit, John Metcalfe and William Addams, among my five children: Richard Ann Franncis Marye and Thomas as shallbe thought fittest by all the parties named or by three of them at the least saving that I will that Marye and Thomas shall have either of them sixe poundes more then anie of the reste because they be youngest – Item I will that such parte of every five parte as shallbe thought mete by my Executor here after namedunfitt to be souled for that it would turne to the hurte of the childe to whom it doth belonge shall remaine unsoulde and come in his proper kinde to the childe to whom it is assigned The residue o every fifte parte I will to be solde valued ad praised by the parties above named being done and sould, by the consent of my Executor betwixt this and midsomer next with the sum of every part sold and the part unsold going to the executor and a bill indented to be made regarding the portions and that such children as be of discretion shall make choyce of theire owne gardions and that a Gardion or Gardions may be appointed unto my two youngest children such as my Executor shall best like of. I appoint my Son Richard as executor. Witnesses William Veale and William Adams.3,4

Richard departed this life in Bartlow. He was buried there in Chancel of the Parish Church on Friday, 9 April 1599.3,5 His will was probated on 27 April 1599.
