Thomas was born in 1650 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. Thomas and Elizabeth had children: Thomas [bp.5/14/1682] [m. 7/090/1713 Mary Lee], Simon [4/01/1683-4/01/1761] [m. 3/22/1711 Mehitable Bird & 2nd. 5/03/1733 Mrs. Mary Wallis], Joseph, Elizabeth [11/29/1694-] [m. 1/28/1720 Jonathan Lewis], Sarah & Esther. Thomas departed this life on Monday, 25 October 1723 in Farmington at age 73 years. Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 2 December 1723 to the widow, Elizabeth and his son Thomas..1 The inventory of Thomas's estate was taken on Saturday, 1 January 1723/24 by Samuel Newell and Nathaniel Stanly.1
Agreement on File: A distribution of the estate of Thomas Newell deceased, made by us the subscribers, is as followeth, in ye year 1724, number ye 10 days: To Thomas Newell £65 8s; To Simon Newell £22 13s; To Joseph £22 13s; To Elizabeth Newell, widow £29 17s. 9d; To Elizabeth Lewis £35 16s. 0d; To Sarah Newell £31 13s. 8d; To Ester Newell £31 13s. 8d.1
His estate was probated on 6 April 1725.
An agreement for the settlement of the estate of Thomas Newell, late of Farmington deceased, under the hands and seals of Thomas Simeon and Joseph Newell, Widow Elizabeth Newell, Elizabeth Lewis, Sarah Newell and Esther Newell, heirs to the estate, was now exhibited, and they appeared before the Court and acknowledged the sd. Agreement to be their voluntary act and deed, which agreement is bythis Court accepted and ordered to be kept on file.1
