Jeremiah Mitchell] & Freelove [m. Thomas Smith]. Thomas departed this life on Wednesday, 13 December 1713 in Fort Neck, Queens County, Long Island, New York. He is buried at Fort Neck. He was first buried there. In 1836, his grave was moved to the Floyd-Jones Cemetery in Massapequa, Nassau County, New York. The inscription on his tombstone reads: Here lyes interd the body of Major Thomas Jones who came from Straubane in the Kingdom of Ireland settled here and died December 1713, From distant lands to this wild waste he came. This sear he choose and here he fixd his name. Long may his sons this peace full spot injoy and no ill fare his offspring here annoy.
