Agnes Johnson

F, b. circa 1540, d. before 6 March 1614/15
     Agnes was born circa 1540. Agnes married Thomas Woodward circa 1559. Agnes's husband, Thomas, died in 1591 in Rushden leaving her a widow. In 1591, she appears on a list of freeholder land owners. She is on lists in this time period as Agnes Johnson Woodward, Agnes Woodward and Agnes Woodward alias Johnson.1 Agnes made her will on 27 February 1614/15.

In the name of God Amen the Twenty seven of February in the yeare of our Lord God 1614 I Agnes Wodward of Rushden in the county of Northamton widow late the wife of Thomas Woodward late deaceased being sicke in body but whole in minde and of Good and perfect memory ___ and prayse be unto God therefore doe ordaine and make my Testament containing hearein my last will In forme and manour following. First I bequeathe my soule to Allmightie God my creator and Redemer. And my body to be buried in the parish church yard of Rushden aforesaid. Item I give unto John my sonne on strike of barley to be delivered within on month after my deacese. Item I give unto Lambert my sonne on strike of barley to be delivered within on month after my decease. Item I give unto John Saunders my sonne in lawe on cowe upon condition that the sayd John Saunders shall pay unto on Anes Deacon my daughter x s within on quarter of a yeare aftermy deacese And to Thomas Wodward the sonne of Lambert Wodward and Agnes Susan and Prudance daughters of the sayd Lambert Wodward to either of them xij d to be payd within on yeare after my decease. Item I give unto Frauncis Bates and to John Burge to either of them iiij d to whom I make my oversears Item all the rest of my goods unbequeathed I give unto Joane my daughter whom I make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament. Agnes departed this life before 6 March 1614/15 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, England.2 She was buried there in Rushden in the churchyard of St. Mary. Her will was probated on 5 May 1615. Her estate was noted as being valued at £4 5s 2d.
