Deacon James Trowbridge

James was born circa 1636 in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Thomas Trowbridge and Elizabeth Marshall. On 30 December 1659, he first married Margaret Atherton.1 James married Margaret Jackson, daughter of Deacon John Jackson and Margaret Taft, on 30 January 1674 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. After the death of his father-in-law, in 1675, he was chosen to become deacon of the church there in Cambridge.That same year, he purchased 85 acres of land, with a dwelling house and outbuildings thereon, from Deputy Governor Danforth. He held several public offfices of the town during the remainder of his life. James & Margaret had children: Experience [11/01/1675][m. Samuel Wilson], Thomas [12/09/1677], Deliverance [12/31/1679][m. Eleazar Ward], James [9/30/1682], William [11/19/1684], Abigail [4/11/1687] & Caleb [11/07/1692]. James departed this life on Saturday, 22 May 1717 in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was buried there in East Parish Burying Ground.2
