Sir Richard de Holebrok

     Richard de was born circa 1230 in England. Richard married Isabella (?) in England. On 16 June 1267, Sir Richard was granated free warren [a right to keep or hunt beasts and fowl such as hares, partridge and woodcock] at Tatingeston, Benetleye, Rushagh, and Foxhole, County Suffolk and at Senges, County Norwalk, England. He was also appointed custodian of the King's castles in twenty different counties and was appointed steward between the bridges of Oxford and Stamford on 16 November 1275, and one year later made escheator in those two counties. In Parliament at Westminister, on 29 September 1278, he was a witness to the homage of Alexander, King of Scotland. [This is an indication of the high esteem he was held in the eyes of King Edward I] During his lifetime, Sir Richard held many positions of trust including that of steward to the king to which he was appointed on 30 May 1285.¹ Richard departed this life between 27 February 1291 and 1292 in England.
