Stephen Hindes

M, b. 1705, d. 14 April 1770
     Stephen was born in 1705. Stephen married Esther Meeker, daughter of Benjamin Meeker and Phebe Clark, in 1730. Stephen and Esther had children: Phebe and Mary and probably others. Stephen departed this life on Saturday, 14 April 1770 in Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey. He was buried there in the churchyard of the first Presbyterian Church. The scription on his tombstone reads: Here lies the body of Stephen Haines who departed this life April 14th A.D. 1770 in the 66th year of his age.1
