Phebe Clark

     Phebe was born on Sunday, 17 August 1681 in Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey. She was the daughter Samuel Clarke and Esther White. Phebe married Benjamin Meeker, son of Benjamin Meeker and Elizabeth Thompson, circa 1698 in Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey. Phebe departed this life on Tuesday, 11 November 1755 in Elizabeth Town at age 74 years, 2 months and 25 days. She was buried there in the churchyard of the first Presbyterian Church. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Her lies the body of Phebe wife of Bejamin Meeker - Deceased November 11, 1755 in the 75 year of her age.¹
