John Dorsey

     John was born in 1682 in Middle Neck Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He was the son of Joshua Dorsey and Sarah Richardson. John married Comfort Stimson, daughter of John Stimson and Rachel Beard, on 22 August 1702 in South River at All Hallow's Parish.¹ John and Comfort had children: Venetia [chr. 6/29/1708], Comfort [7/03/1710-7/12/1787][m. 1727 Joseph Cromwell], Greenbury [1711-4/29/1782][m. 6/18/1726 Mary Belt; 2nd. 1750 Sarah Bond & 3rd. 1760 Catherine Grimes], Joshua [1712-1784][m. 11/03/1734 Flora Fitzsimmons], Vincent [1714- 2/05/1753][m. 10/26/1742 Sarah Day], Sarah [9/17/1717-before 1788][m. 4/17/1733 Alexander Cromwell], Venetia [1016/1718][m. 2/10/1740 Woolquist Cromwell], John Hammond [1724-3/18/1775][m. 2/16/1743 Frances Watkins]. John's wife, Comfort, died on 23 June 1747 in Baltimore leaving him a widower. John departed this life on Saturday, 12 February 1774 in Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland.
