Jean Declos

     Jean was born in 1732 in Bayonne, Pyrenees-Atlantique, Aquitaine, France. This date was calculated from his age at death. In 1754 or before, Jean & his brother, Antoine, left France aboard the ship, "La Marie Catherine", bound for Quebec. He was a carpenter..¹ Jean married Madeleine Huard dit Desilet on 31 January 1763 in Pointe-de-Levy, Lauzon, Levis County, Quebec, Canada, at St-Joseph Church.² Jean & Madeleine had children: Jean-Baptiste [10/16/1763-3/31/1819][m. 1/14/1788 Marie-Angelique Roy], Marie-Genevieve [6/12/1765-9/25/1765], Joseph [8/16/1766-7/12/1793][m. 1/18/1790 Louise Fortier], Louis [12/29/1768-5/16/1821][1/16/1797 Marie Miray], Madeleine [circa 1772-4/03/1844][m. 4/19/1790 Jean-Baptiste Bourassa], Andre [10/09/1773-2/05/1804][m. 10/08/1798 Catherine Huart], Marie-Louise [6/09/1776-5/11/1853][m. 10/19/1795 Pierre Rodrique], Antoine [8/04/1778][m. 8/09/1808 Marguerite Lemieux] & Michel [2/17/1782][m. 2/02/1808 Genevieve Samson].³ Jean departed this life on Tuesday, 7 April 1812 in Pointe-de-Levy, Lauzon at age 80 years. He was buried there in the cemetery of St-Joseph on Thursday, 9 April 1812.⁴
