     Jane was born in Reading, Berkshire, England. She was nine years of age when she came to Massachusetts with her parents. She was christened there on 15 August 1624 in Reading. The Damon name is spelled historically in documents in various ways. Such as Dammin, Dummin, Dammond, Damont. In mid May 1635, Jane left London, with her mother, aboard the ship, "Elizabeth & Ann", under the command of Captain Robert Cooper, bounded for New England. Listed among the passengers were Abigail Eaton aged 35 years, Jane Damand aged 9 years, Marie Eaton aged 4 years, Thomas Eaton aged 1 year & others..1,2,3 Jane married Sargeant John Plimpton the 13th day of the first month 1644 in Dedham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.4 Jane married 2nd Nicholas Ide on 16 March 1680 in Medfield Township. Jane's husband, Nicholas, died on 18 October 1680 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, leaving her a widow. Jane departed this life in May 1694 in Rehoboth. She was buried at Medfield Township in Vine Lake Cemetery.5

  1. [S1513] Sanuel Chenery Damon, Damon Memorial or Notices of Three Damon Families who came from Old England, page 45-46. Jane Dammand, aged 9, was a passenger with the family of John Eaton, in the "Elizabeth Ann" which vessel came from London to New England in Spring of 1635.

    To John Plimpton of Medfield, John Eaton gave "the like sum of five pounds."

Her husband John Eaton and her son John Dammant came aboard after the vessel left port, or preceeded them in another vessel. They settled in Dedham.
