William was born in 1500 in Rougham, County Norfolk, England. Christopher [1535-1607 [m. Mary Catesby], Humphrey [m. Miss Bastard], Lancelot [Rector of Schulthrope & Victor of Grist 1564-1577]. William married Anne Fermor in 1526. He was a reader at Gray's Inn in Lent of 1535 and Lent of 1542.3 William's wife, Anne, died after 1551 in Rougham leaving him a widower.4 William married 2nd Jane Cocket circa 1559. His wife, Jane predeceased him. William made his will on 30 December 1582. William departed this life on Tuesday, 12 August 1586 in Rougham at age 86 years.5 An Inquisition Post Mortem took place on 4 October 1588; His sons, Henry, Christopher, Edward, Charles and William were all living at the time of this inquisition.6,7 His will was probated on 17 August 1592. He was buried at Rougham, County Norfolk, England, in the Church of St. Mary's. Upon his Brass are 15 figures of his children all represented as adults: Children of Ann Fermor: Henry, William, Sir Christopher, Lancelot, Humphrey, Winifred, Ann, Martha, Frances & Jane. Children of Joan Cocket: Edward, William, Sir Charles, Ferdinand & Grisell.8
