Daniel Wells

     Daniel was born on Sunday, 26 March 1702 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Daniel married Elizabeth Downs, daughter of William Downs and Abigail Ryder, in 1722 in the Town of Southold. Daniel's wife, Elizabeth, died on 20 October 1722 in Aquabogue in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, leaving him a widower. He married 2nd 1724 Mary Goldsmith & 3rd 1742 Hannah Vail. Daniel departed this life on Sunday, 29 March 1761 in Aquabogue in the Town of Southold at age 59 years and 3 days. He was buried at Jamesport in the Jamesport Cemetery. The inscription on his tombstone reads: IN MEMORY Of Capt. Daniel Wells Who died March 29 A.D. 1761 in the 59 year of his Age.¹
