Dietrich Polender

     The original form of this name was Bonlander and appears to have come from the area then known as Bonlanden [now Kirchheim-Bonlanden near Oppenheim in the Palatinate of western Germany. It is likely that once the man moved away from Bonlanden that others referred to him as a Bonlander [ie one who came from] and with the need for surnames came the new use. Dietrich was born circa 1425 in Schorndorf, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Before 1469, Dietrich resided at Schorndorf, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. By 1469, the family was residing at Oppenheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
