Nicolas's wife, Madeleine, died circa 24 March 1677 in Tadoussac, Quebec, Canada, leaving him a widower. Nicolas married 2nd Francoise Ouechipichinokoue on 3 June 1677 in Tadoussac, Quebec, Canada. On the same day, he was buried there.7 Nicolas departed this life on Saturday, 12 February 1729 in Tadoussac at age 79 years, 9 months and 10 days.
