Margery Morley

     Margery was born. Margery married John Yelverton, son of William Yelverton and Jane Gross, circa 1450. John and Margery had children: Elena [m. <1476 Godfrey Joye], Ann [m. <1476 Thomas Jermy], William [-6/20/1500] [m. Ann Paston] [heir to her father], John [monk] & a daughter [m. Richard Walter].1,2,3 She received from her father-in-law a settlement by deed dated 16 November 1476 for the manor of Markeshall.4 Margery's husband, John, died on 9 July 1481 in County Norfolk, England, leaving her a widow. Margery made her will on 4 June 1501.

She ordered that her body should be buried in the Friars St Austins, near Norwich, near unto the body of John Yelverton, late her husband, and bequeathed £4 to the Parish Church of Castle St Edmund’s. She was a benefactor to the reparation of several churches, and gave ten marks to her son, John, who was a monk. She also willed her Manor of Castle St Edmund’s, and all lands and tenements within the same, together with Markeshall, to Richard Walter, her son-in-law, for seventeen years, to pay her debts and legacies, and after to William Yelverton, son and heir to William Yelverton, lately deceased, and in default, to Amy Yelverton, sister to the said William.

Margery departed this life in 1503 in County Norfolk, England. She was buried near Norwich, County Norfolk, England, in the Friars of St. Austin, Little Yarmouth near her husband.

After the deaths of William and Anne, William the son entered and died seized, when Amya, then wife of James Holme, became entitled as sister and heir at law. His death took place 10th June Ao. 10 Hen. VIII. [1518], and Ann Holme was thirty years old – Esc. 11 Hen. VIII.
