     Richard made his will on 29 October 1559 at Watford, Hertfordshire, England.

In the name of God Amen Anno domini 1559 and the xxth Daye of October – I Rychard Meade of the parish of Watford within the countye of Hertford sycke in bodye but hole of mynd make my Testament and laste will as followeith Fyrste I Commytte my sole to god & my Bodye to be buried within the church yard of Watford – Also I gyve to willyam my sonne iii pound xj s. xiiid. – Item my will is that the sayde goods soo gyven shalbe delivered to my Overseers when they shall demannde yt so for his proffette as theye thinke beste – Item I give to Prysilye and Roger my sonnes £xl a pece tp be delivered to my Overseers in lyke maner – And yf aney of my sayde children dye before theye be of Lawfull age – Then I wyll his parte soo gyven to remayne to the other that lyvethe & yf my wife doo marrye Then I will that my ssyde wyffe shall fynd suffycyente swertyes [i.e. sureties] to my Overseers to deliver the sayde goodes to them when theye or theyre assignes shall call for ytt or ells to delyver the sayd goodes immedyatelye to my Overseers And my wyll is my children have theyre goods delivered to them at the age of xxi yeres yf my Overseers thyncke that thaye be Able to occupye the goodes – Item I gyve to my wyffes ii dawghters xj s. viiid. A pece – The Reste of my goodes not gyven my debts payde I gyve to margarett my wyffe whom I make my holle executrixe – And I make John Marten & John Fynche my overseers And gyve them v s. betwixte them the which is in cornysshes hand witnesses Andrfewe Dallowe, vicker John Kelseye, Rychard Joones, Thomas Heydon.1

The inventory of Richard's estate was taken on Monday, 26 September 1560. His estate was valued at £13 5s. 4d. His will was probated on 25 October 1560 exhibited by his widow, Margaret.
