Increase Mather

Increase was born in 1725 in Lower Aquabogue, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Rev Nathaniel Mather and Ruth Havens. Increase married Annie Brown in 1743 in the Town of Southold.1 Kezia [10/01/1749] and her husband William Lain had a son , her son William, purchased land in Minisink owned by Parshall Howell. Parshall was the son of Keziah's cousin, Charity Marther, wife of Parshall Howell Senior. Increase and Anna had childen: Nathaniel [1746-1803] [m. 10/25/1765 Mary Whitehead & 2nd 10/25/1775 Lois Cooley], Keziah [10/01/1749-12/02/1814] [m. 12/26/1768 William Lain], Lydia [1751-1790] [m. John Davis], Daniel [1757-12/07/1816] [m. 1778 Beersheba Southworth], Increase [7/27/1758-12/07/1816], Cotton [7/04/1759-4/22/1822] [m. 1784 Sarah Doty], Joseph [11/13/1763-10/12/1816], [m. 1782 Keziah Tuttle] & John [4/21/1765-1814] [m. 1789 Julia White]. The 1790 U.S. Federal Census enumerates at Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, the family of Increase Mather - 3 males over 16; 3 females.2 Increase's wife, Annie, died on 5 September 1790 in Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, leaving him a widower. Increase departed this life on Saturday, 20 December 1794 in Minisink Town, Orange County, New York, at age 69 years. He was buried at Westown in the Loree Burying Ground.
