Joan was born in England. She was the daughter of Mr. (?) Martyn. Joan married Richard March, son of William March. Joan's husband, Richard, died circa 1608 in Sherford leaving her a widow. Joan made her will on 21 March 1616.
The will of Johane Marche of Sherford, co. Devon, widow, dated and sealed 21 May 1616. To be buried in the church of the parish of Sherford. To the poor of Sherford10s., to be distributed by overseers at my burial. To my eldest daughter, Alice March, £5, to be paid within a half year after my death. To my second oldest daughter, Elizabeth March, £5, within a year after my death. To each of the rest of my daughters, namely Ulilia March Amias March, Jane March and Johane March, 50s. to be paid with a year after my death. Residue [with all my rents and reservations] to William March, my son, executor. I do request William Randall, John Bickford and Gregory Bickford to be overseers. The sign of Johan Marche.
