Anna Elizabeth Meads

     Anna Elizabeth was born on Tuesday, 13 February 1849 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Isaac Meads & Lydia Ann Leonard. She was often referred to as Eliza. On 10 May 1866, she married Johiel Bair. Anna Elizabeth married 2nd Lewis Stremmel, son of George Ludwig Stremmel and Frederika Feiring, on 25 March 1880 in Crawford County, Ohio. Eliza was first married to Johiel Bair.^1,2 4 June 1880, Anna and her husband, Lewis, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus village, Crawford County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Lewis Stremmel [35 Maryland], his wife: Eliza [31 Pennsylvania], step son: Samuel Blair [14 Ohio], step daughter: Cora Bair [12 Ohio] & step son: Roy Bair [10 Ohio]. Lewis is a saloon keeper.³ 4 June 1900, Anna and her husband, Lewis, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Lewis Stremmel [55 Maryland - October 1844] & his wife: Anna [50 New York - __ 1850].⁴ 16 April 1910, Anna and her husband, Lewis, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus at Walnut Street. Enumerated in this household were Louis Stremmel [65 Maryland] & his wife: Anna E. [61 New York]. They had been married 30 years with no children.⁵ 9 January 1920, Anna and her husband, Lewis, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Bucyrus at Walnut Street. Enumerated in this household were Louis Stremmel [75 Maryland] & his wife: Anna C. [70 New York]. Louis is a laborer in a machine shop.⁶ Anna's husband, Lewis, died on 8 February 1923 in Bucyrus at his home, 910 South Walnut Street leaving her a widow. Anna departed this life on Sunday, 14 February 1943 in St. Albans at home of her granddaughter at age 94 years and 1 day. She was buried at Bucyrus in Oakwood Cemetery.⁷
