Margaret Ellen Hess]. 3 September 1850, Jane and her husband, John, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Whetstone Township. Enumerated in this household were John Sweney [50 Pennsylvania], his wife: Jane [44 Pennsylvania], children: James [16 Ohio], Sarah E. [14 Ohio], Martha J. Ohio].⁴ 28 June 1860, Jane and her husband John were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Whetstone Township. Enumerated in this household were John Sweney [62 Pennsylvania], his wifea; Jane [54 Pennsylvania], children: James [26 Ohio], Martha J. [22 Ohio], John [20 Ohio], Isaac [18 Ohio], Nancy L. [16 Ohio], Thomas L. [14 Ohio], & William S. [10 Ohio].⁵ Elizabeth's husband, an unknown person , died on 10 September 1881 in Whetstone Township, Crawford County, Ohio, leaving her a widow. Elizabeth departed this life on Tuesday, 19 June 1883 in Whetstone Township at age 77 years, 5 months and 1 day. She was buried there in Stewart Cemetery. She was buried in grave no. 186 A. The inscription on her stone reads: Jane wife of J. L. Sweney - Died June 19, 1883 - Aged 77 Y. 5 M. 1 D.
