     John was born circa 1640 in Springthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. He was born at the home of his father.2 On 8 October, when ohn was only a child, his farher passed away & left him his houses in Briggate & in East Retford, Carr Lane & Close in Little Grigley in Clarborough.

He sells his the houses left to him by his father in Easr Redford in 1662. By 1663, no Maltby is taxed in Eas Redford,
John came over to New England before 6 January 1664 with his brother, Robert.. Derby Tpwm records show on On the 6th of January 1664, John witnesses the sale of land between Thomas Wheeler & Alexandee Bryan in Derby.3 John married Mary Bryan on 28 February 1666 in New Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.4 He was lost at sea. On the 10th day of the 4th month 1676, he was declared deceased.5 The inventory of John's estate was taken on Wednesday, 10 June 1676 at New Haven County, Connecticut. His inventory was worth only £58.
