Penelope Mather

     Penelope was born on Friday, 27 May 1746 in New Britian, Hartford County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Joseph & Anna [Booth] Mather. Penelope married Lemuel Hotchkiss, son of Ladwick Hotchkiss and Mary North, on 26 March 1764 in New Haven County, Connecticut. Lemuel and Penelope had children: Lemuel [1/15/1839] [m. Abigail], Lydia [3/15/1769-2/02/1853] [m. 1791 Hasrvey Peck], Anna [6/22/1782-10/17/1863] [m. 1800 Lovira Hart] & Henry [8/09/1785-11/21/1870] [m. 1806 Sarah Cochran]. Penelope's husband, Lemuel, died on 18 February 1802 in Durham, Greene County, New York, leaving her a widow. Penelope departed this life on Friday, 26 January 1810 in Durham, Greene County, New York, at age 63 years, 7 months and 30 days. She was buried there in Allen Teator Road Cemetery.¹
