Ruth Allen

Ruth was born in 1671 in Tisbury, Duke's County, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of James & Elizabeth [Partridge] Allen.1 Ruth married Edward Bangs, son of Jonathan Bangs and Mary Mayo, circa 1690 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Edward and Ruth had children: Joshua [1691-5/23/1762] [m. 6/18/1713 Mehitable Clark], Mary [1693-ca.1768] [m. Benjamin Hatch], Edward [8/14/1694-6/03/1755] [m. 1720 Sarah Clark & 2nd 6/09/1730 Rebecca Doane], Ruth [1699-1702] Ebenezer [2/08/1702-2/16/1778] [m. 12/18/1727 Ann Sears], Jonathan [ 5/23/1707-12/17/1745] [m. 1/04/1733 Phebe Hopkins]. Ruth departed this life on Sunday, 22 June 1738 in Eastham at age 67 years.2 She was buried there in the Old Burying Ground. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Here Lyes Buried The Body of Mrs. Ruth Bangs Wife To Capt. Edward Bangs Who Departed This Life June 22 1738 in Ye 68 Year of Her Age.
