Margaret Agard

     Margaret was born in Derbyshire, England. Margaret married John Rolleston, son of Alured Rolleston. Margaret departed this life on Saturday, 28 July 1500 in Rolleston, Staffordshire, England. She was laid to rest in the chancel of the church of Rolleston, Derbyshire, England, along side her husband. They are both entombed here with an inscription in Latin which is translated as follows: "Here lies John Rolleston, armiger son of Alured Rolleston of Rolleston and Margaret his wife, the only daughter of John Agard de Foston; which John died on the 28th day of July A. D. 1485, and Margaret his wife, died the same day and month of A. D. 1500, whose spirit will receive communion from the Holy Trinity." In the description of the plate by the tomb there is mentioned that at the feet of the couple are two sons and a daughter.²
