Joane Kingman

     Joane was born circa 1623 in England. She was the daughter of Henry & Joane Kingman. On 20 March 1635, Joane left from the port of Weymouth in Dorsetshire aboard the ship, "Marygould", bound for New England. They came a shore at Boston on 5 May 1635. Among the passengers on the ship was her family, "Henry Kingman aged 40, Joane his wife, aged 39, Edward Kingman his son, aged 16, Joane his daughter aged 11, Anne his daughter aged 9, Thomas Kingman his son aged 7, John Kingman aged 2, and John Ford his servant, aged 30". The passengers went to Wessaguscus where in July the name changed to Weymouth.. Joane married Thomas Holbrook, son of Thomas Holbrook and Jane Powys, circa 1650 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Thomas & Joan had children: Thomas, John, Susannah, Mary, Peter [3/071666-5/03/1712] [m. 1678 Alice Godfrey & 2nd Elizabeth ( Shaw) Poole], Joanna [10/30/1656-2/28/1682] [m. 1674 Uriah Clark] & Joseph [4/10/1660], Peter [3/071666-5/03/1712] [m. 1678 Alice Godfrey & 2nd Elizabeth ( Shaw) Poole]. Joane's husband, Thomas, died on 22 July 1697 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, leaving her a widow.
