Nicholas was born in 1620 in Upwey Parish, Dorchester, Dorchestershire, England. On 11 November 1622, he was christened in Upwey Parish, Dorchester, Dorchestershire, England, at Parish Church. Nicholas married Susanna (?) on 12 June 1646. At the time of the marriage, Susanna was the widow of William Joyse with a small daughter, Abigail [1645].
Nicholas came to America with his father in 1628 but stayed in Windsor with his older brother, Walter, when his father moved on. At his death, his estate was given a net value of 81 pounds, 9 shillings, and 5 pence. Also recorded us a judgement that his three surviving children divide his estate equally. Susanna brought to this marriage a daughter, Abigail. Nicholas departed this life on Wednesday, 7 July 1655 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.

- [S86] David Webster Hoyt, Genealogical History of the Hoyt, Haight, Hight families.., pages 296-298 - No. (2603) II. NIcHoLAs,2 b. 1620-26; m. Susanna Joyse, June * 12, 1646 (2616); d. July 7, 1655. His wife d. July 4, 1655. They had 4 chil. b. at Windsor, one of whom d. the same month as his parents; and his wife had a daughter, Abigail Joyse. We have not been able to find any direct and positive proof that Nicholas was a brother of Walter and son of Simon; but the circumstances are such as to leave no doubt of the fact. The following entries are found on the first book of Windsor Land Records, p. 114, the next page after the one assigned to Walter Hoyt: In the " first book of town acts " we find that Peter Tilton and Nicholas Hayte were granted " a swamp for grase," March 20, 1654.
On the " Records of the Particular Court" at Hartford we find the following entries: - 7th March, 16g. " Action of slaunder to the damage of 20Th," Tho: Stanton plaintiff, Nicho: Hoite defendant. " The defends pleading want of witnesses to cleare his case wch hee could produce if he had a longer time, the Courte graunts him liberty to the next particular Courte except they see cause to call it sooner." - 28 March, 1650. "The Jury findes for the defends coste of courte." Execution delivered 3d June 1650, for 6s. costs. - 15 May, 1650. Another action for slander against Nicholas Hoite, by Bray Rosseter, " about the truth of his oath taken in the last courte" - Verdict "for the defends: costs of the court," "w°h was Hoites wife 2 dayes 265." - July 30th 1655: " An Inventory taken of ye State of Nicholas Hayte of windsor on Connecticott late deceased : by ye men whose names are under written

The Distribution of the estate on ye other side by ye Courte this 20th of December: 1655: is as followeth. That is the Courte Adiudges yt ye whole estate and ye increase by the Improvement of it, shall bee equally divided amongst ye fowre Children, to ye Daughter at ye Age of 18 years, and to the Sonnes at ye Age of 21 yeares.
