He removed to Guilford, Ct., as early as 1672 - for Jonathan Hoite is on the list of.estates in G., Dec. 10, 1672; and the birth of a son of Jonathan Hoyt is recorded there Jan., 1672. On the G. land records we. find deeds to Jona. Hoyte of G. in 1682 and 1684 also a deed from Jona. Hoite in 1682. Jona. Hoyte is on the list of G. freemen, March, 1689-90. We also find the account of Jonathan Hoyte Sen. in the "fourth division of lands," Jan., 1694-5. The list of estates in 1690 seems to be the basis of this division, " with the addition of heads both male and female unto the list, to fix every person's right to the fourth division." He seems to have recd. 70 acres from the list of 1690; 40 for his wife, Sam. Hoyte, Mercy, and Hannah ; 10 for his son Jonathan; and 10 for Merriam Carter. On the opposite page to this is another account of Jonathan Hoyte Sen., showing what disposition was made of this land.
An inventory est. Jonathan Hoyt, of G., is found at New Haven, containing the names and ages of his children; also an agreement between widow Mary Hoyt and the children, June, 1697. At G. is a deed to heirs of Jonathan Hoyte decd., late of G., dated 1697-8. Merriam Carter seems to have been a member of his. family, but not a daughter-perhaps a daughter of his wife. Wid. Mary Hoyt was living in 1704.
* Daughter of Samuel Pond. [Savage.]
t The date 1660, given on p. 14, on the authority of Hinman, is probably an error.
