     Mehitable was born on Tuesday, 20 September 1825 in Hainsville, Sandyton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. She went by the nick name Hetty. Mehitable married John Dunning on 15 March 1847 in Dexter Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. They ran the John Drake merchantile located in the village of Unadilla and resided at the store. John & Mehitable children: Flora [5/00/1849-] [m. Albert H, Watson] & a child [d.y.]. 7 August 1850, Mehitable and her husband, John, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Unadilla Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were John Dunning [37 New York][merchant], his wife: Hetty [24 New Jersey], daughter: Flora [1 Michigan], brother: Chandler Dunning [28 New York][clerk], and Rasnelia Finny [13 __].3 8 June 1860, John and Mehitable was listed on the U.S. Federal Census at Unadilla Township, Livingston County, Michigan. Enumerated in this household were Chandler Dunning [34 New York clerk], his brother: John Dunning [47 New York merchant], John's wife: Hetty [35 New Jersey], & Flora A. [11 Michigan].4 Mehitable departed this life on Sunday, 12 August 1866 in Unadilla Township at age 40 years, 10 months and 23 days.5 She was buried there in the Baseline Cemetery.
