Lydia Hotchkiss

Lydia was born on Thursday, 19 February 1733 in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut. She was the daughter of John & Meriam [Wood] Hotchkiss. She was first married to Thomas Hart. Lydia married 2nd Ladwick Hotchkiss, son of Josiah Hotchkiss and Abigail Parker, on 17 September 1777.1 Lydia departed this life on Monday, 27 August 1798 in Bristol, Hartford County, Connecticut, at age 65 years, 6 months and 8 days. She was buried there in the old North Burying Ground. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Here Lyes the Body of Mrs. Lydia Hotchkiss, wife of Cap. Ladwick Hotchkiss of Farmington who died August 27, 1798 in the 66th year of her age was formerly the wife of Thomas Hart.2
