She was buried at Westown in the Loree Burying Ground. The inscription on her tombstone reads: Susan Horton Died Jan 30th 1876, Aged, 82 yr's 6mo's & 29 days, All is Well. Her will was probated on 23 March 1876.
County of Orange, To Wit: I H R Horton of the town of Minisink being duly sworn and examined, do depose and say, that I am a nephew of the said decease; that said decease departed this life at said town on the 30 day of January 1876, without leaving any Last Will and Testament, to my knowledge, information or belief; and that said deceased died possessed does not exceed the sum of sixteen hundred dollars, as I have been informed and believe; that said deceased has left her surviving - [hand written document continuing the deposition] Hannah Ferguson, half sister of said decease of Bradford Co. Pa. – aged about 90 years, incompetent to transact business in the opinion of your petitioner, John Howell, George Howell, Chauncy Howell, Nelson Howell of the state of Michigan Louisa Chapman of Wisconsin. Charles Howell residence unknown & William Howell of California children of Elizabeth Howell & deceased sister. Benjamin Doty Elizabeth Boyleau & Sarah Dean of Bradford Co. Pa. Susan Dunning & James Doty of Michigan & Floyd Doty of Iowa as your petitioner believes – children of Hettie Doty a deceased sister.2
