Joshua's wife, Mary, died on 2 January 1718/19 in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, leaving him a widower.4 Joshua made his will on 23 March 1723.

Also 3 Lots in Hog Neck, lionnded west by Benjamin Reeve, east by Nathaniel Youngs. ...to my son Ephraim, during his life, 3 Lots, about 75 acres, bounded east by Henry Wells, west by Thomas Goldsmith, and after his death I leave all these to his son Benjamin. ...to my son Ephraim, all husbandry utensils, and to my wife Mary, all goods and moveables and money not herein mentioned.
