Thomas Hook

M, b. before 1648, d. before 26 May 1698
     Thomas was born before 1648 in County Middlesex, England. In early 1668, Thomas left London aboard the ship, "Goulden Wheat Sheaf", under the command of Captain James Connaway. The ship arrived in Maryland some time in April. About the year 1680, Thomas leased land in Calvert County, Maryland near what is now the city of Laurel. He remained here for the rest of his life. Calvert County would soon become Prince Goerge County. Thomas married Annaple Magruder circa 1680 in Calvert County, Maryland. Thomas made his will on 23 September 1697.

In the name of God Amen, first I bequeath my soul to God who gave it and my body to the ground and after my funeral charges is paid all my debts it can be made hisnistly apps I bequeath as followth-My will is that my sonn James Hook and my sunn Thomas hook shall remain with their mother until they be on and twenty years of Eage and if please God, my sife should dy then shall booth be at Eage and at their own disposing, Itam I give to my sunn James my cow betey and all her female increase and to my sunn Thomas I give my cow Pritey and all her female increase and the rest of my good and Chattele I leave to my wifs disposing. This is my will un witness whereof I have unto put my hand and Seall this 23rd day of September 1697.1

Thomas departed this life in Prince George County. Letters of Administration of his estate were granted on 26 May 1698; his widow, signed the papers as Annaple Hooke in her own hand.. The inventory of Thomas's estate was taken on Friday, 24 July 1699. Annaple, and her now husband, John Wright, signed the final inventory.
