Alfred Holmes

     Alfred was born in 1811 in Ohio. Alfred married Catherine Beery, daughter of Jacob Beery and Nancy Geil, in 1833 in Fairfield County, Ohio. Alfred & Catherine had children: Jacob [2/28/1834, William [1/26/1838-7/21/1861], Nancy J. [3/27/1840], Naome [9/15/1845], & Catharine E. [3/28/1849]. 23 October 1850, Alfred and his wife, Catherine, were listed on the U.S. Federal Census in Crane Township, Wyandot County, Ohio. Enumerated in this household were Alfred Holmes [39 Ohio], his wife: Catherine [41 Ohio], children: Jacob [16 Ohio], William [12 Ohio], Nancy J. [10 Ohio], Naoma [5 Ohio], & Catherine E. [7/12 Ohio]. He is a farmer.¹ Alfred departed this life on Tuesday, 11 January 1876 in Forest Hill, Gratiot County, Michigan, at age 65 years. He was buried there in the Brady Cemetery.
