Elizabeth Holbrook

     Elizabeth was born circa 1647 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Elizabeth married John Sprague, son of William Sprague and Mellicent Eames, on 13 December 1666 in Hingham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. In 1669, the family, including his father-in-law, moved to Mendon. On 14 July 1675, Mendon was the first town attacked by the Indians in King Phillip's War. In that winter, the town was burned. John's family & the Holbrooks returned to Mendon after the war was over. Elizabeth's husband, John, died on 26 October 1683 in Mendon, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, leaving her a widow. On 11 January 1685, Elizabeth Sprague was assessed for the ministers salary in Mendon. Elizabeth married 2nd James Bick between 11 January 1685 and 9 September 1696 in Mendon, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.¹ On 9 September 1696, Elizabeth's father mentions her as Elizabeth Bick in his will. They resided in Mendon until 1696. James had been involved in a contraversay with the authorities & they were compelled to leave the town of Mendon at which time they moved to their farm in the "Inman Purchace".¹ On 4 February 1708, their children each drew a share in the 5th division of land at Mendon - the four sisters drawing the 18th choice. In 1713, the children also drew shares in the 6th division - Ebenezer & his sisters drew 96th choice.¹
