Rachel Hatfield

     Rachel was born in 1704 at Elizabeth Town, Essex County, New Jersey. She was the daughter Cornelius & Sarah [Force] Hatfield. Rachel married George Badgley, son of Anthony Badgley and Elizabeth Thorne, circa 1725 in Elizabeth Town. George & Rachel had children: George [1726-4/25/1794][m. Charity Neau], Cornelius [1728-6/10/1794] [m. Esey Townley], Elizabeth [1730- ] [m. 5/01/1763 Benjamin Jackson, m. 2nd John Brown, m. 3rd Mr. Lee], Sarah [1732-12/02/1793] [m. John Clark, m. 2nd William Graham & m. 3rd Robert DeForest], Mary [1739-7/30/1759] [m. James Carmichel] & Rachel [1741-11/09/1759] [m. John Doobe]. Rachel's husband, George, drowned in September 1759 in Elizabeth Town, leaving her a widow. Rachel's husband, an unknown person , died before 9 August 1794 in Elizabeth Town, leaving her a widow. She was buried there in the First Presbyterian Churchyard on Saturday, 9 August 1794.¹
