     John was born in New Haven County, Connecticut. John married Martha Baldwin, daughter of Joseph Baldwin and Hannah Whitlock, on 26 December 1667 in Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.1 John & Martha had children: Hannah [1668-4/07/1744] [m. 11/__/1694 Jonathan Scott], John [1/26/1671-7/06/1671) & John [1673-1704].2 John's wife, Martha, died on 7 January 1675 in Hadley leaving him a widower.3 They resided at Hadley, Massachusetts which later divided and their residence became part of Hatfield and then later moved to Deerfield. He married second, Alice and had several children by her. On 29 February 1704, an assault by the French & Indians took place at Deerfield. His wife, Alice and his family were taken & killed on the way to Canada. He went to Waterbury to live with his only surving child, Hannah, wife of Jonathan Scott & spent the remainder of his life there.4 John departed this life in Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut.
