On 13 August 1612, he was christened in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England, at St. Mary's Church.2 On 2 April 1635, Richard left London aboard the ship, "Planter", under the command of Captain Nicholas Trerice, enroute for New England. Before being permited to board, Richard had to present his certificate from the minister of St. Albans in Hertfordshire and attestations from the justices of peace according to the Lords order. Among the passengers listed on the ship were Richard Harvie tailor aged 22 years... Anne Harvie aged 22 years. Being Richard & Anne were not listed together, it is not known whether Anne was his wife or possibly his sister. Also aboard this ship was his sister, Mary Beardsley. The ship arrived at Boston the 7th of June..3 He was a tailor. Richard married Margaret (?) before 1639 in Massachusetts.1 He settled in Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Richard's wife, Margaret, died on 2 December 1639 in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, leaving him a widower.1 Richard signed over his property in Stratford to his son-in-law, John Hide, on 15 July 1686. It was noted that he was then living in Fairfield. This is the last known public record of Richard.4 Richard died intestate before 4 November 1689 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. The inventory of Richard's estate was taken on Friday, 4 November 1689. It was valued at 92 pounds, 10 shillings. His estate was handled by John hide, his son-in-law. On 25 December 1705, John finally got Richard's inventory approved by the court.
