Elizabeth Hanford

Elizabeth was born in England. She was the sister of Thomas Hanford. Elizabeth married John Wetherhyll, son of Father Wetherhyll. It is not known which of John's children, if any, belong to her. If John had children prior to his marriage to her, she took them on as her children and thought them as such. Elizabeth's husband, John, died before 5 June 1578 in London, County Middlesex, England, leaving her a widow. Elizabeth made her will on 28 October 1584.
In the name of God, Amen.- The eight and twentieth day and mont of October in the year of our Lord, God, one thousand five hundred eighty four, in the six and twentieth year of the reign of Our Sovereign Lady Elizabeth by the grace of God, Queen of England, France & Ireland, Defender of the Faith, etc. I, Elizabeth Wetherhill, of London, widow, being sick in body but yet of good and perfect mind in remembrance, praise be given to Almighty God. I do make and ordain this my testament and last will in manner and form following. That is to say, first and principally and before all earthly things, I commend my soul unto Almighty God faithfully believing by the death and passion of Our Savior Jesus Christ to have full remission and pardon of all my sins. I will my body to be buried in the cloister of the parish church of St. Mary Woolnoth in London right onto that place there where the body of my late husband lyeth buried. And my will is that within convenient time after my body buried all my goods and chattels whatsoever praised and sold for the most that may be made thereof and that such debts as of right I do owe to any person or persons shall be paid so soon as money may be conveniently be made of my goods to discharge the same. And that done, the residue which shall remain of my said goods and chattels, my funeral charges with the probate of this my testament and charges incident thereunto being discharged. I give and bequeath to and amongst my sons and daughters being ___ to be divided amongst them at the discretion of my executors and overseers of this my testament hereunder named. And that my daughters of the said remainder shall have equal portions one as another and greater parts than my said son shall have. And of this my testament and last will I ordain and make my well beloved son-in-law, Humfrey Streete, and my son, John Wetherhill, executors and ___ ordain and appoint my good brother-in-law, John Blunt, and my brother, Thomas Hanford, desiring them to be advising to my executors in the execution of this my will as my trust is in them that they will in what they can in ___ what whereof to this my present testament and last will, I the said, Elizabeth Wetherhill, have set my seal and mark the day and year above written. Sealed and by the said Elizabeth Wetherhill declared to be her will in the presence of by me Thomas Frankwell, witness by me, Robert Berke, John Fforber.
Elizabeth departed this life before 20 May 1585 in London, County Middlesex, England. She was laid to rest in the cloister of St. Mary Woolnoth Church, London, County Middlesex, England, near the grave of her husband and child.1 Her will was probated on 29 May 1585.
